View Full Version : $5 discount if you tell them about your DSL

In another thread, someone posted a URL where you could go to Directv and print their form to mail in and get $5 off for a year on your monthly bill. I printed the form and started filling it out. But then I stopped and threw it away. The form wanted me to send them a copy of my phone bill. Seems innocent enough. But they also wanted my DSL account number. I was going to copy my latest bill and black out the account number. They could ofcourse still see my phone number on the bill which matches my phone number at Directv.
I can't imagine sending one company I do business with my account numbers from another company I do business with. Maybe its just me?

umm what? Well I have DirecTV and Verizon, and ordered my phone/dsl/tv all on one call since they work together, and I already get a discount due to that
so what are you talking about? link?

I can't imagine sending one company I do business with my account numbers from another company I do business with. Maybe its just me?My phone company account number is just my telephone number with an extra suffix -- I blacked out the suffix and used my telephone number for the account number. so what are you talking about? link? It's a promotion for subscribers who don't have the option of ordering service in a bundle.

Normally, when I receive an e-mail like this, I just delete it, since most of them direct me to a WEB site that I have never heard of and I don't want to give any unknown company any of my personal data that might be used for identity theft.
However, since this points to the directv WEB site, you are probably safe in sending them the information.
I won't be doing so as I am still receiving my internet service over cable, not DSL.

Did anyone notice the offer is already expired?
Is DirecTV still honoring it anyway?
Edit: The offer I guess is good, you just need a DSL bill from last year.

Has anyone actually gotten this credit? If so, how is it indicated on your DirecTV bill? I sent mine in months ago and have never received the credit, though I met all the qualifications and sent it in timely. I haven't gotten around to calling on it yet.

I read through the original thread here (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=313238) and no one reported getting the credit. So I called today and finally got connected to the internet options department and got the credit. I hate dealing with rebates but this is a freebee. The sloppy way they are handling this (no tracking, etc.) would allow anyone to call in and ask for the credit.

About 6 months ago. No credit yet. I see a 45 minute call with a D* CSR in my near future. Sigh.

I called in several weeks ago asking why it had never shown up after sending in the forms back in the fall.
No one at D* knew anything about it even after going through a couple of CSRs. They said it was expired, through Verizon and not them, etc. they had every excuse in the book.
Finally I got someone to give me $5 off but only for 6 months. I told her no the offer was for 12 months and after a while she said okay. But when I checked my bill it was there but only for 6 months. So I called back and got someone who knew about the DSL credit and he said all he could do was elevate it and they would get back to me after 5 days. After a week, no call so I call them back and am told that it is on my account with a note and that after 6 months I can get another 6 months at $5 off but I have to call back to get it!!
I told them this is ridicules and let me speak to a manager. Well I got transfer to Retention and as usual, after a couple of minutes she gave me the $5 off for 12 months and told me sorry for all the inconvience and said the $5/6 mth credit that was already there would stay.
So now I getting the $5 credit for 12 months and hopefully another $5 credit for 6 months for all my trouble!!

Anyone else having a problem with getting CSRs to verify the offer, give them the PDF for the form at www.directv.com/creditsdsl . Once the CSR I spoke with read that form they offered the credit right away.

I got the DSL credit today after talking to a CSR after just one transfer.

Did you have to give your DSL account number?

They didn't ask for it!
They have my Email address and phone number, I simply said I was with Verizon.
I did mail in the form months ago but they claim they never received it.

We are with Bellsouth for Phone and DSL service, and have Directv.
Recently, we applied for a Discount Online thru Bellsouth and received $5.00 off our monthly Directv bill. Why? Well Bellsouth offers bundled packages and guess what.... Directv is one of those services!
Long stroy short, we save $5.00 a Month!
