Can anyone tell me how I can copy saved programs from an old Tivo HD that is bad to my new HD, or am I out of luck and have to re-record those programs?

If I cant add them back to my new Tivo HD is there a way to move them to my computer for viewing?

Check the underground or upgrade forums. I believe that it can be done, but it ain't easy. The files on the hard drive are encrypted.

There's really no way to preserve those old recordings if your hard drive is bad, unless you can somehow repair that hard drive. Repair utilities like SpinRite sometimes work, at least long enough to copy the "bad" drive's image files and recordings to a new hard drive.

You may be able to copy them to the new drive, it depends on how bad the drive is. See http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/ or http://tivo.upgrade-instructions.com/index.php
