I've used hinsdale & MFStools in the past to copy drive to drive. Now I have some USB HD connectors, so I'm wondering if I can copy and image drive to drive in a linux install that would recognize and allow me to mount those two drives by USB. To be honest I haven't tried it yet, but I'm not optimistic about the MFSTools CD being able to recognize my drives on USB...
Does anybody know how I can do that? I'm limited now because of my SATA PC, I don't have the old HD connections I used to...
Thanks in advance...

I think http://www.mfslive.org/ may support USB drives at least for making the backup image I do not think it would work with a TiVo formatted drive in the external USB case. Most external USB cases want the drives to be formatted FAT32 or Linus EXT2,3 I had one old USB case that allowed me to format the drive NTFS however.

You could get an add-on IDE card like the Promise Ultra133 TX2 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16816102007) that is the card I use.

It does support TiVo formatted drive in the external USB case. Cool thing is you don't have to reboot. Just plug it in the usb port and it should be mapped to /dev/sda, /dev/sdb etc.
