View Full Version : Season Pass missing HD episodes

I've had a TiVo since 2000, and never missed a recording. (except of course for my own errors.)
My new Series 3 has an odd problem - it doesn't include HD shows in the season pass, even where the season pass itself shows the HD channel # and the show is included in the TiVo guide.
For example. I have a season pass for 24 on HD channel # 712. If I "view upcoming showings" in the season pass, the TiVo simply lists about 50 upcoming episodes of 24, all on SD channels, but does NOT schedule for recording or even list the new episode set for next week on channel #712. Yet, the new episode does correctly appear on 1/29 in the regular guide for channel #712.
This continues to occur after restart. I have also tried cancelling the season pass, then finding the 1/29 HD version of 24 in the guide, then getting a new season pass starting with that very show. But the 1/29 show still doesn't appear in the season pass when I "view upcoming showings."
Exact same problem with Studio 60 on HD channel #708.
Since the shows actually appear in the guide, this seems like some sort of TiVo indexing problem.

When setting up the Season Pass (SP) go to SP Option and look for additional programs. Mine shows the extra listings for the HD showing and I select that for my SP. Worked for me for the last 5 months.

Thanks, but it doesn't work for me. The additional programs, or upcoming showings, do not show the upcoming HD showings. Only the SD ones.

You might try rerunning the guided setup and see if the S3 gets the correct guide data.

I believe that is exactly what the OP did. Dudesdad I can't understand this. Are you absolutely sure when you "view upcoming episodes" you don't see the SP with the double check marks?

I avoided having the S3 make a mistake and record the SD version of an HD show by going into the Channel List and un-checking every channel that simulcasts programs that are showing on another channel in HD. For example, in Cox OKC’s lineup, Channel 2 and Channel 750 carry the HBO East lineup but Channel 2 is SD, while Channel 750 is HD. I have un-checked channel 2. I have done the same thing with the channels carrying the SD feeds of the networks. This way, TiVo forgets that there is an SD feed for HBO, NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox. So far this solution has worked well for me.

This sounds like a good workaround. I'll see if it works for me when I get home tonight.
But still, the existence of this issue is troubling.

sometimes the guide info is different for SD and HD channels. I've only really noticed if for sports. Maybe one will say NFL Football: Team a vs Team B and the other will say AFC championship or something similar but different. That will wish lists but I've never seen it with a season pass....

Thanks much. I don't say this often, and I see it as a great compliment: you are smarter than my TiVo.
