What ever happened to the DirecTV plan to offer some sort of server for multi-room viewing? I've hacked my DTiVos but I was wondering whether we will ever seen DirecTV sponsored MRV.

With the TiVo's? I'd say no way.
With their own DVR's, I'm sure it's coming.

I guess I never gave it much thought since I've been using my hacked DTivos to do MRV and transfer files to my PC's for a long time.

I was just reading about the DirecTV and Intell VIIV beta for the HR20 and I really don't see the point. You can network the HR20 to your PC but the only thing you can do is view photos and listen to music on the TV?
It seems to me that if the box is accessible via a network connection, the DirecTV subscriber should be able to do everything that a standalone TiVo subscriber can do. What's the point of requiring a special Intel chip to do nothing more than view photos? And of course it's only available to customers with the latest Intel motherboards. I just don't understand their business "plan".
