high definition recording problem?

I am being forced to "manually" select some high definition broadcasts I want to record. If I use the "season pass" option to record a broadcast that is simultaneously on both a standard channel (not high def; usually a low numbered channel on my cable line-up) and a high def channel (higher numbered channel; 210 to 260 on my cable line-up) it will always record the non high def version. Right now I have to select the high definition channel I want and manually tell the unit what time slots I want to record. It seems logical that there must be a way to eliminate this problem.

Block out the lower numbered channel from your channel list.

The SP function is channel dependant, i.e. the SP records only for the cannel it is set up on. Check the SP shows the HD channel number. If it doesn't show it delete it and set it up again for the right channel number.

I find it all too easy to use find program and then set a season pass without thinking about the channel. Use view episodes to find the one on the high channel and set the SP based on that.

Another thing to do is de-select the SD channels so only the HD ones show up.

Problem solved...I would have sworn I was initiating the SP from a high def channel but I guess i wasn't.
