Woke up this morning to new programming. No special settings. No tweaking. Hughesnet must have changed the mtu limit. I have two toshiba series2 tivos with wireless adapters. They both work flawlessly. Big news for those of us stuck with satellite internet.

Showpainter? Could you give Hughesnet a call and find out if they actually did something different? I have Starband and I've been looking for someone that has satellite that works with Tivo! What software version do you have on your Tivo?

I called customer service and I couldn't find anyone who knew anything but my modem homepage has changed design a little bit. My software version is:

Software Release: 5.3.0.27
DW 7000

It's still working. I keep checking just in case it's temporary.

I was wondering what version of Tivo software you have loaded on your Tivo? I don't have the DW7000, I have the new Nova modem that Starband offers. It's no surprise that Hughesnet support doesn't know anything about the changes! I used to work for DSL internet support a few years ago. Our developers didn't tell us what they were working on or changing! It made support pretty worthless! What wireless adapter are you using? I've tried the DWL122 that was working for me with my last DSL connection but it doesn't want to work with satellite. I have a Tivo adapter on the way to try it...just looking for a way to connect!

I'll check when I get home. Before this I was using a serial ppp connection with my cell phone as a modem. You might want to try that. It worked but was a real pain and you can forget about the online scheduling. I scheduled several things to record today from my laptop. I hope that part works as well.

hmmm...serial ppp connection with your cell phone? How on earth does that work? I've tried to use my cell phone as a landline but it didn't work. I even had the data option. Actually, I presently use my cell phone with blue tooth. The blue tooth communicates with a device called Dock-N-Talk which is connected to a standard cordless phone. This way, I can use the cordless phone like a landline. It still doesn't work with Tivo though!

sorry can't post urls

I looked into the dock n talk as well but somewhere I read it can't be used for data.

I used my verizon phone as a modem through bluetooth. Then connected the tivo serial cable to a radio shack usb/serial converter. If you search for "ppp serial" I think there are a few threads in this forum that go over it detail.

My tivo software: 8.1-01-2-565

Showpainter...you still out there somewhere?

Showpainter, I sent you a PM. Also, I said... you didn't tell me what wireless adapters you have. Duh! It's all in your signature! Sorry about that.

Ok, I tried the Tivo adapter...it just came this morning. No dice! It doesn't do any better than the DWL-122 that I already have. Something else is throwing a wrench in the works!

Has anyone actually made this work?
