Newbie question

Simple newbie question: I want to upgrade my HR10-250 using the Zipper, are there any minimum requirements for the replacement HD? I'm planning on an IDE 250GB 5400 Maxtor. Anything special I need to consider?

Unless you already have the Maxtor 250, I would purchase a 500 instead. Might as well get more hours of recording in the process.

I would take the time to create a backup of your original drive (put it on a CD for safe keeping, zipper tools CD). Then I would restore the image to the new drive, this can be done if you follow the zipper instructions.

If your new drive works fine, then you could just take the 250 (original drive) and sell it on ebay (maybe recoup some of the cost for a 500).

Or you could zipper the original but you should make a backup of your original drive first.
