UGGGG! here goes......I have just purchased and activated Tivo series 2. I have a high definition TV and HD Dish Network receiver. I have hooked this up several times and cannot seem to get it right. one way (setting on Cable input) I can use the TIVO contrls and guide, but the guide channels are different than what is actually playing. If I choose HD for my input, the TIVO remote does not work. I have a large 3 headed HD cable that goes from the receiver directly to my tv then the standard red/yellow/white av from the receiver to the Tivo input then out from Tivo to TV. Help...........not technical..........can I do this or should I hire someone to help me?

The "three headed HD cable" sounds like a component video cable. You have connected composite video and left/right audio to the TiVo, Do you get sound when watching the DISH receiver directly? Possibly not - you'd need to get a pair of Y-splitter adapters at RadioShack for the audio.
When you want to watch TiVo, you have to select the composite video input on your TV. If the channels are not right, go back into the settings and make sure you have chosen the proper DISH lineup for your area.
Note that when you are watching the DISH receiver directly in HD, you won't see anything from the TiVo and it may decide to change channels out from under you.

thank you for the help. I do get sound but in one of my configuration tries, the sound was delated about 3 seconds. So, I guess what you are saying is that there is no way for me to use the Tivo guide? because when I am on the HD input, I have to use the Dish guide, and on the tivo input, the guide is not correct, and yes, I did go back through the set up to chek that I selcted the right channels. The channel are all listed correctly, its just that when I am on Lets say watching TNT, I select info, and I get the infor for ABC.

Patience...it's a Saturday night...folks are busy ;)
I don't have an S2 or Dish, so I'd be of no help.

When watching the Tivo, if you hit the 'guide' button, does the guide that comes up display correct info?
I've heard of cases where people were getting bad guide data.
IIRC, one of the workarounds is to try another ZIP code close to your own during setup.
You might have better luck here doing a search for 'bad guide data'.

If the "sound is delayed". that means you are listening to sound through the TiVo but watching video that comes directly from the DISH box. You must have both video and sound go through the TiVo, or neither of them.
You can use the TiVo guide, but you apparently have made an incorrect selection of the lineup. Tells us what channels are wrong, what your ZIP code is, and the name of the channel lineup you have selected.
