Tivo Series 2 not recognizing usb200m

My Tivo Series 2 won't pick up my usb200m adapter ver 2 I have Tivo software 8.1 so it should work tried adapter in computer and adapter works fine. tried both usb ports and powering on and off still nothing Tivo support was no help has anyone else had this trouble?

Is this a new TiVo?

Has the TiVo ever recognized an adapter plugged in the USB port[s]?

no I have had the tivo for over a year. just now trying to network it

I am assuming TiVo says there is no adapter present-Correct?

Are any of the adapter's three[?] lights on?

Do you have another adapter you can try-even if it is not one supported by TiVo?

All 3 lights come on for a sec but then go off

There should be at least one light on if the adapter sees a network.

At this point, I am still assuming that when you say it does not recognize the adapter you mean exactly that, it keep telling you to plug one in even though you have it plugged in.

If so, I would try another adapter-any adapter. If TiVo does not see/recognize the second adapter, in either port, I think it possible you have faulty USB ports in the TiVo.
