Network TiVo

Hi, I bought a TiVo (second hand) - I am really new to TiVo, so sorry!

How can I network my TiVo... so ...

I can contact my laptop or PC?
Can I add a wireless/network card so I can get onto the TiVo?

How is this done?

You'll need to install a network card (TurboNet or preferably Cachecard) inside the TiVo and the connect it to your laptop or home router. You'll also need to take the hard disk out of the TiVo and connect it to your PC to be able to install the drivers to enable the card to work.

Do you know if your TiVo already has such a card installed (there's no real way to tell without taking the lid off) ?

There are some network cards for tivo:

Airnet (wireless but only 802.11b so quite slow)

Turbonet (wired)

Cachecard (wired and can take 512mb ram to speed up general usage)

The preferred option is a cachecard, you can then plug this into your router if its close enough or a wireless bridge.

Then you can telnet/ftp tivo (with a couple of modifications) or install an http app (tivoweb) and do *everything*
