The cable coming from the wall....

If by that you mean the line feeding from the satellite dish, that doesn't go to the TiVo.

It goes to your satellite box.

The satellite box feeds the TiVo, most likely by way of audio/video cables.

I suspect the "split the cable" instructions actually are for a cable TV hook up, and you're reading the wrong instructions.

Please explain in a little clearer fashion exactly what your setup is and what you're trying to do.

For example, you mention more than one DISH box.

You can't use more than one DISH box on the one TiVo. It can only work with ONE set top box.

In fact, using a Dual Tuner TiVo with satellite leaves you with only one tuner working.

You might be able to set the TiVo up to take an antenna feed on the unused tuner, for OverTheAir channels, but that's the best you can do.

Please, instead of a long rambling paragraph, use separate sentences, line changes between them, to explain each piece of equipment you're wanting to use with the TiVo, and what you're hoping to achieve.

Thanks!

You might be able to set the TiVo up to take an antenna feed on the unused tuner, for OverTheAir channels, but that's the best you can do.Unfortunately, the Series 2 DT TiVo specifically does not support OTA.

* Record from two basic cable channels, or one basic cable and one digital cable channel, at once. Does not support recording from two digital cable or satellite channels at once. Supports recording from cable and satellite sources only; does not support recording from over-the-air antenna.(emphasis added)

Beware of another 322 problem when used with TiVo DVR. The 322 screen saver activates after a few hours of inactivity [six, I think] and the TiVo cannot de-activate it.

The 'select' button on the 322 remote is the only de-activation method.

Perhaps there has been a fix or work around for this but I have not seen it

It'd get the first 12 or 13 channels, but without guide data.

As I said, that'd be "the best they might be able to achieve" with the second tuner.

I suppose if the household also has cable, that'd work...

Not too common to have both satellite and cable, tho'. :(

Yes my 322 still does that. What problems will that create withthe tivo and any idea how I correct it?

If the screen saver comes on, the TiVo cannot change channels on the set top box without simulating a Dish remote 'select' command. Apparently loyoldac has a solution-hoping he/she, or someone, will share that with us all.
