View Full Version : Just lost ALL stored show data...

Was watching a recorded show tonight, and when I deleted it, I got dropped into what I thought was a folder of a particular set of older shows. I couldn't get out of the folder, so I simply deleted the 3 old shows that were in it.

Once they were deleted, my Now Playing list showed completely empty, even though both tuners are currently recording something! Looking at the "Past Recordings" list, NONE of the shows I know were recorded are showing up as having any record, deleted, not recorded or otherwise.

I have some fairly important programs recorded, and I'm worried that if I reboot, the database is completely hosed, and I'm going to lose everything.

Has anyone seen this behavior?

This is a Series 3, with a 500 GB upgrade drive, transfer to the new drive done right out of the box when I got the system. I haven't had any issues with this unit until now.

TIA,
-P

I did have something somewhat similar happen to me tonight. I deleted a show and a message came up saying I had no more shows to watch. I kind of panicked, left the Now Playing area, came back to it and my shows were all there. Same setup, 500 GB upgrade.

Nope, we've gone all through the menus; coming back to Now Playing shows the same thing as an empty Tivo that's just been booted up. Not even the Tivo Training videos are showing.

Try restarting by going to TiVo Central -> Messages & Settings -> Restart or Reset System -> Restart the TiVo DMR. It may not work, but at this point, I don't think you have much to lose.

Scary stuff if this is true. Do you dare try to reboot?

Decon West: Thanks, but I understand how to reboot the box; I upgraded the thing myself. As I mentioned, I'm afraid that if I restart, the Now Playing database is going to be fragged, so I am looking at that as a last resort. What I am asking is if anyone else has seen this behavior before, and what they did to rectify it.

I'm wondering if there's a way to SSH into the box and check on stalled processes? I would guess that an indexing process of some kind has crashed.
