With the upcoming release of Vista in the next weeks, I would like to hear the experiences of other users who have already tested Desktop and Plus features.

I have have Tivo Desktop installed on a Vista build thanks to a MSDN subscription. So far the desktop software is transferring shows without a problem and I am currently testing Desktop Plus to transfer files to my Ipod. I am planning on testing Itunes this weekend to verify I can still transfer shows to my Ipod.

Others please share you experiences since I know this is going to be an big issue once Vista is official released and Tivo seems to be ingnoring the fact that Vista exists and customers are going to be asking alot of questions.

An update. Auto Transfer seem to be working fine. Also desktop plus. Itunes also working.

Looking good!

By the way I am using the Ultimate edition on a P4 1.80 megahertz(sp?)

no problem! If we can get more posts perhaps we can get the thread made sticky.

So far I love Vista. I have already converted my son's PC . The new sercity and parental controls are great especially the time limits. I plan to install in on my Media Center box in a dual boot mode. I use both Tivo and Media Center.

We'll I new it was too good to be true. I tried Vista on a different machine and I am having problems.

Tivo desktop will launch and I can download programs from my Tivos, however Tivo desktop locks up. Downloads continue however. Also Tivo Plus conversion is not working at all. It may be a permission problem under Vista. I have turned off User Account Control, but this did not help. Does anyone know which program is called to activate the plus convserion.

Another possability is that tivo cannot use the Vista built in decoder.

Any other ideas from others.

Thanks

What is needed to use this software?
Can you connect the tivo direct to pc using a usb cable?

Basically, everything works fine under TIVO, once I installed teh k-lite CODEC package. TIVO server runs great, conversions work, everything is hunky dory. Now if TIVO would just resolve the issue of not being able to download programming from the TIVO to the PC, I would be ecstatic. Alas, they seem to have major issues with properly testing software updates before pushing them to the public.

I am having a problem. I did the upgrade from windows XP professional to Vista Business. I had some problems with tivo desktop after the upgrade, everything else is working great. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the Tivo Desktop but when I try to reinstall I get "Installation ended prematurely because an error occured" Anyone know why I got this and how to fix it?

I see that there are now a couple of brands of software that can load and allow you to edit video captured by Tivo Desktop. One of them is Easy DVD Creator 9 by Roxio. I'm wondering if anyone has tried the new video editing software that comes with Vista to edit video from Tivo.
