Later, if I replace the stock 250GB with an S3 imaged 750GB or 1TB, is there any effect on my activated cable cards?

I'm assuming I would need to run guided setup again for the new drive, but would I have to go through the cable card process again (calling the cable co., giving the numbers, and then they activate/pair, whatever they do)?

Or, just pop in the new drive, run guided setup, and I'm done. Because the cable cards are unaffected and still active with the cable company.

I know the TiVo service level is not affected, but what about the cable cards?

Thanks.

Good questions, I'd like to know this too. I'm sure it's been addressed before, but I am too lazy to look.

hello,
There is no effect on your cable cards & you dont even need to rerun setup . I just put in a 750GB db35 seagate drive and every thing is working fine, but this is only if you do an image copy for the original 250gb drive. if you buy a new drive from weakness that is preformatted you will have to rerun setup but you cable cards should still work because your host id's will not change because they come from hardware not software

Not true for many.

If your cards are already activated, copy your drive to a new blank one. Don't replace it with a preformatted one!

So.. If you get a preformatted kit you're going to have to redo all the cable card settings. Is that final?

Seems to depend who your cable provider is. Some are not "pairing" (is that the right term?) the cards to these host id's (or whatever).

Worst case, another truck roll by your cable co.
