My 300g drive is failing, I am planned to try a dd_rescue to a new 320g. As the 300g already had the lb_48(?) kernal, will I have to put it on the new 320g drive or will the dd_rescue copy that as well?

dd_rescue makes a binary (image) copy of everything that is on the source drive.

Thanks, I did the update last night.
Just as a note to others, the copy worked great with dd_rescue, the only issue is that because it is a "copy" it does NOT recognize the additional 20G of space. If you want this to become available, you will have to re-install the kernal.
Thanks to all on the message board, reading through the information was extremely helpful.

How exactly do you re-install the kernal. Thanks in advance
