Hi - I have a Pioneer Tivo Series 2 with a built in DVD burner which works well, I have created well over 200 DVD on this machine.

The Tivo is networked with my desktop and I have Tivo Desktop installed.

Now to my 2 questions:
1. When I transfer a file from Tivo to the PC via Tivo Desktop and then transfer it back (having made NO changes to the file of any kind) it plays fine on the Tivo.

However, when I bring up the DVD menu of the built-in DVD burner there is a red icon next to the file name and I am not allowed to burn it. Other files that were not transfered to the PC still burn fine. What is this? Is there a work-around?

2. Is there a way to save Mpg files in .tivo format?

Thanks

1. The DVD burner TiVos will only burn something they recorded themselves. There have been posts that needed metadeta doesn't get transferred, or transferred back. The effect is that it will only burn what it recorded itself.

2. If the MPEG-2 file is saved with the right settings, it can be transferred to the TiVo and played on it. The TiVo is finicky about those settings, but once you know how to get them right, it is very doable. The file isn't a *.tivo file, but it doesn't need to be.
