I am confused about the results of my upgrade.

Hughes SD-DVR40

I replaced the original 40gb (A) drive with a 120gb (B).

I used the Weaknees interactive instructions.

backup: no
FAT partition: no
Windows XP or 2000: no
Save recordings: save
moving to another TiVo : no
TiVo OS 6.2 or later? : yes

mfsbackup -Tao - /dev/hda | mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -xzpi - /dev/hdb

Everything looked good until transfer reached 100%
then system started looping while trying to open CDRom drive (C)
Sorry to say I did not record the messages.
I powered down PC and mounted 120gb (B) into Tivo chassis.

Tivo started and works great old recordings are intact and readable BUT,
Recording Capacity still shows 35 hours.

What did I miss?

Thank you for your time.

Toby

It sounds like something happened before the expansion was done. Put the drive back into the PC, boot mfstools and use mfsadd:

mfsadd -x /dev/hdb

The -r 4 is not really needed for this size drive, but it does not seem to hurt.

Yes I believe it got screwed-up after the transfer not sure about what the sequence is.

Will this affect the saved recordings? not the end of the world but the kids will be bummed.

Thank you for your assistance.

I followed your instructions and now have the full 120gb (105 hour +/-)

It only took seconds to complete and still preserved my recordings to boot.

Thank you very much for your assistance.
