Hi All,
I have been patiently waiting for 6.3.b as I have been experiencing the audio dropout problem that is so well documented in this forum.

My hr10-250 is currently running 6.3a, completely stock, no hacks, etc...
I finally got a pending restert message a couple of days ago and did a system reboot. The system went through the boot process normally and displayed a "Installing service update" during that process. Once booted, I checked the system status and was disappointed to see it still showed 6.3a . I did a little trouble shooting and found that I get a pending restart every time I force a call to the DVR service. Rebooting yields the same exact results as above. Once rebooted the pending restart message goes away.
One final experiment, I rebooted without forcing a call and it still says it is installing a service update, but still 6.3a once rebooted.
I am assuming there is some sort of corruption with the update file, but that is just a guess.

Any thoughts as to what is going on or suggestions on what to try next would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help you might lend.

IIRC, the system/downloaded files have to tell the HR10-250 to reboot in order for the installation to occur. Forcing a reboot won't get it done.

Thank you for your reply.

I also tried connecting to the DVR service, got the pending restart message and left it alone. It rebooted itself overnight. Still did not update. I actually did this 2 nights in a row.

I don't think it is normal, that I get a pending restart after every call and that I see an installing service update after every reboot. Every other patch that has ever come through has installed the first time pending reboot appeared in the system status screen.

If the status screen says "Pending Reboot" it should install the new version on the next reboot.

Have you waited overnight and see if letting the unit reboot itself fixes the problem? I guess the only way to tell if it rebooted itself would be to program the 30s skip, then see if the skip is still programmed in the morning.

Yes, I did let it reboot on its own overnight (see post #3 above). I confirmed that it had rebooted by the disappearance of the 30 second skip and the fact that the pending restart message had gone away the next morning.

I thought I understood that there was a duplicate partition with a backup copy of the OS on it. I was hoping there was a way to force it to boot from that partition and see if there was any change. It looks like I may be down to waiting till after tomorrow and calling customer service and asking them why I have not been updated to 6.3b.

It ironic that the 6.3b watch thread is full of posts waiting for pending restart and I can't get rid of it!

Thanks
