list of tivo codes to work the remote with these newer tv's? I've googled my Olevia Syntax with no luck and I see dozens of requests from other people for other tv's that do not have their codes listed in tivo central.
I would have thought with all the tivo websites that surely someone would take this endeavor up and try to keep a list that people could keep adding onto, but I can't find any!
If anyone knows of such a list that I haven't found, please let me know!
(and using the tivo directions for scrolling and trying at random, well I gave up after 40 mins or so.

Check the Syntax website. It has a FAQ on the support page that has a list of models that you can use for universal remote.

good idea
but if the codes exist you'll generally find it by the search method eventually. Some tv's just aren't in the code base. ( I know I have one). You could buy the "glo remote" as it can learn the few tv buttons. But then you are out more cash...

You can't add codes if the TiVo remote firmware doesn't know the new brand.

not sure if you are talking about the series3 (aka glo remote) or not- but to clarify for the OP - that remote is a true learning remote. So even if the remote firmware doesn't know the codes you can teach that one. You just hit a few buttons aim the old remote at the tivo remote and teach it- viola you are in business.... (and out another pile of cash- LOL)

No not series 3, i have dual tuners series 2'sssss.. it's not just me , i post on the tivo site forum and people are asking for codes all the time to new wacky tv brand names! i just thought it would be cool if someone.. anywhere would keep track of these, even a blog or something where we can all input any new codes we figured out. oddly, a few yrs ago i posted here and asked for a code for my tv and someone came up with it. but then yrs later i moved, i have no idea what that code was, and tivo /google/olevia/syntax are no help .. nor is the random search for codes.. what a nightmare that is!
thanks anyway :=(

there was a member CCWF who kept track of where a list of codes was kept. I searched around for it but could not find it and I have not seen CCWF post here for some time now.
try out the avsforums

scroll down to the remote control forum

you can buy the S3 remote to use it with your S2 was my point- sorry I wasn't clear. It's called the 'glo remote'
http://www.tivo.com/2.7.1.asp
the remote will set you back $50 itself though.
Not a great option, but maybe some would prefer it...

Charlie's code list is for the IR code database for cable/satellite/other boxes the TiVo has to control.
I agree, we need some sort of unified place where users can create a database of what existing codes are compatible with what TVs, what Tvs are cross brands of each other, and what the brand name really is.
I am thinking something more wiki like.
For an Olevia Syntax, Syntax is the brand, I understand.

I was looking for the one that had codes for the remote control to use to control a TV set. That one was for cable boxes and sat receivers. Maybe it was not CCWF who used to maintain the list for remotes and TVs but someone else ?
