View Full Version : HR 10-250 not connecting to DVR service?

Any of you have this problem before?

I test my phone settings, and the connection tests out OK.

I try to force a DVR call - and it goes through the preparing and into the dialing stage and then says "Failed. DVR service not answering".

I seem to be missing some shows lately (for example, 24 on this upcoming Sunday isn't showing up in the to do list - although Monday's show is). It also did not record Desparate Housewives for my wife (yes, really my wife's show) this past Sunday.

Have any of you seen this, or have any ideas on what is going on?

Thanks in advance for the help. The primary reasons for forcing the DVR call was to try to get 6.3b (as I have a lot of audio dropouts on 6.3a on FOX), and to see if I can get my listings updated, as it is missing shows.

Thanks!

Did you try changing your dialin numbers and rebooting?

Yes, I tried changing dial in numbers. Same thing - phone tests out OK, but DVR service does not answer.

I am in process of trying to reboot the system. I've had it unplugged for about 15 minutes. I am now going to plug in back in and see what happens!

I've experienced the same problem. Changing the dial-in number does not remedy it. I've had the problem with the HR10-250 and the SD-DVR40, so I think its a DVR service problem. Maybe too many are calling in at the same time. If I force a call repeatedly it will eventually connect. I use a Joliet, IL access number.

I found out 2 things about this problem:

1. Unplugging and rebooting will update - for some reason, the call works in this situation.

2. I called D* and they said this is a known issue they are working to resolve. The bad thing is, as long as the DVR service is not working you will have to manually add programs to your season passes AND you will not get the 6.3b update until it is resolved.

I've been a long time customer (since 1994) - an "A" list (isn't everyone I bet on the "A" list) - but I'm so fed up with all the problems since the 6.3 software release that I'm ready to head back to cable. This is ridiculous - my 3.15 was working fine and they had to funk it all up, just to have "folders". Big deal.

I'd much rather have a working unit - including FOX locals - and the ability to actually record something than folders.

We don't need no stinking folders - just give us back 3.15....

The heck with the NFL season ticket - I'm going back to cable!

A phone call has nothing to do with populating the guide data.

None of my 4 TiVos have had a phone line connected in years and all my data is current.

Guide data information is loaded via the data stream in the signal received from the satellite.

I agree with you Mags.

I downgraded my hr10-250 back to 3.15f and now I have no more missed recordings, reboots or any other weirdness from 6.3x

does one go about downgrading back to 3.1?????

Please tell me, wise people - because that is where I want to go!

I have had my HR 10-250 connected to the same TV and the same phone connection since Dec 06. But suddenly in late Jan or early Feb (don't remember precisely), it would no longer connect and I get all these messages to make the connection.

I have repeatedly tried and it tries to dial but always fails. I tried unplugging an restarting the box - no change. I tried more than one access number - no difference. Finally, I tried calling the access number from a phone and got a modem response so the phone line and phone number work.

Nonetheless, the box won't make the call. I think from what I have read, this is a DirecTV problem. Is that true? Is there nothing I can do but wait for them?

I'm having the same problem; my last successful call was in mid-Jan, the download to 6.3b. Have tried everything since then; test calls are fine (212 NYC number, via Vonage) but every other attempt comes back with "failed while getting account status".

I dont' care all that much, though I am unclear as to whether there will be issues with the early change to DST; I know 6.3 is supposed to fix that.
