View Full Version : Why did Six Feet Under clip?

Monday night, Bravo had three Six Feet Under episodes, back-to-back. Two of them clipped a couple of minutes off each end, despite being followed by another episode of Six Feet Under. I checked the recording times in the TiVo guide, and it didn't look like there was any overlap.

Anyone else? What happened?

Is your season pass for Six Feet Under padded? That would explain it.

So are you saying that the next episode of SixFeetUnder your Tivo recorded didn't have the end of the previous show at the beginning? (ie Bravo just ran longer than the guide time)

Is your season pass for Six Feet Under padded? That would explain it.I can see how padding would explain it, but no, I'm not padding. So I take it that your Six Feet Unders didn't clip last night? Did anyone else's clip?

Wait a minute, even if I had padded it, the superfluous padding is all that would have gotten clipped, and it wouldn't explain how the last couple of minutes of the show itself actually got clipped, would it? (Because the shows ran back-to-back.)

It's still a mystery to me.

I don't record Six Feel Under, so I can't help there. However, if the shows ran from 8-9, 9-10, and 10-11 and you have the season pass padded for 2 minutes you would get one recording from 8-9:02, one from 9:02-10:02, and one from 10:02 till 11:02. All of the show would be there, just not in the right recording. If that is not what happened then I am at a loss.

(Except I don't think Bravo ran long because the subsequent recording was on-time.) In the past, consecutive shows have done just that. But last night two episodes lost a couple of minutes at the end, stopped recording, then the next episode started recording without the lost minutes.

I get a similar scenario sometimes with The Daily Show and Colbert Report.

*Usually*, the last bits of the Daily Show are there at the begining of the Colbert Report recording. Regardless, it's quite annoying.

But your reported situation is due to the show running past it's allotted time. The OP is saying that his show is actually clipping.

OP: I believe a Tivo'd show will have a description that it has been clipped, or show partial recording, or at the timeelapse bar at the bottom, show a blank area at the end of the bar (where the missing show is). Did your problem recording exhibit any of these.
How about looking in the TODO history to see if anything happened at that time as well.

I'd say usually is really always. The ending of Colbert is *almost always* in the allotted time ("almost always" == I think I have literally missed it once or twice), but the clipping of moment of zen is annoying enough that I record the two shows via a 10AM (or is it 8AM? they moved recently) manual SP for 1 hour.
