I'd assume your "HD-DVR" is actually your cable box which can also record the way a TiVo can.

Check and see if your TiVo has remote codes that can control that particular cable box (which YOU would know the ID of, since we don't- You haven't told us.)

If your TiVo can control the channel changes on the box, then you're ready to go.

Hook the cable box up to your TiVo the way you would any other cable box. Might be more than one method. Your choice.

Just remember that your cable box is also a DVR, however, and if you're using it to record something, the TiVo, using the cable box as a source, won't be able to record a separate program. It would have to record whatever the box is putting out...like maybe the program the box is recording.

The general feeling among TiVo users is that if your cable box is also a DVR, you probably wouldn't want to create the confusing situation that might arise by using it as the signal source for your TiVo.

Probably better to use your TiVo with "straight cable", and let it record whatever channels it gets without the box. Stuff that only the cable box can get? Record that on the cable box.
