Doing long-distance help for my dad... this supposedly had worked before he moved; but I am not so sure.

Equipment: DCT6200 Cable Box (Comcast if that matters), HDTV & S2DT

Situation - While I know how to hook everything up... my dad would like to watch HDTV through the cable box. I know that the S2DT does not support HDTV.. but

1) If a HDTV signal passed through it ... what would the output look like?
2) Can the DCT6200 support passing a SD and HD signal at the same time... and if so, how?

Or simply put - how could my dad watch HDTV by selecting the proper HD channel without the need of an additional box? (Not counting the Series 3)

Thanks,

Jeff

Maybe you can have your Dad use the componet video and Dolby Digital outputs on the DCT6200 to connect directly to the TV and then have the other analog audio and S-Video for connection to the S2 for the digital channels. He'll have to switch the input on the TV and use the STB remote when he want's to watch HDTV.

I don't know about passing through, but either way I don't think it matters or will help your Dad. He'll need to go straight from the STB to get the HD signal to the TV (either the DVI or componet outputs).

Hope that helps
