Hi, is it possible to get a tivo to download guide info right through a computer eliminating the need for a wireless adapter. Say I have a laptop that is wireless, is there anyway to hook the Tivo up to the Laptop with a USB cable, or other cable and have it get the guide information that way. Thanks for any info!

The closest thing I've heard of is using a crossover cable to connect the TiVo to the ethernet port on the laptop.
This still requires a USB to Ethernet adapter for the TiVo... so if you already have a network (and router), you can simply connect the TiVo to your router instead.
I don't know of any native usb to usb solutions for this.
Maybe someone else has had some luck with this???

I've seen the old Linksys b USB adapter for around $5 after rebate a few times. You don't need a fast adapter if you're just doing guide updating...
I myself am using a WUSB11 ver2 adapter myself.
They seem to be going for around $15 - $20 shipped on fleabay...

The USB ports on all Tivos are for network adapters only. Only the duel tuner S2 and the S3 have ethernet ports.
