(The HR10-250 and eventually the HR20) that will not break the bank. Is the top one necessary?
I want one remote to control Tivo, the DVD and AV stuff. Like if I set TV to use the AV system full-time, the wife can hit one button and the Tivo and AV will work together. This way she does not have to turn on the TV, then the AV stuff, control the vloume with one remote and access the HR10 with another.
Is the middle of the road one the one I am looking for?
I don't need the biggest screen. Just the one that will truly give me a "One Remote" solution.

Harmony 676 is the best IMHO. I've had & used the 659, the 628, & the 880.
The 676 has the buttons in the best place to work by feel for a heavy TIVO user. I am very big into FF, REW, SKIP 30 sec, pause, play, info, menu, to do list etc.
The 676 is the best for me. I strongly recommend it.
I am not familiar with the new HR20 remote, so you might want others to chime in on its button layout.
When it comes to the Tivo remote the Harmony 670 is a good choice. Layout is very similar to the Tivo remote. One button operation for everyting. Requires conecting it to a computer for initial set-up. Will reduce the number of times the wife will call by 99%.

I got an 890 for Christmas and it's very tivo-friendly. I added a thumbs up and thumbs down but that's it. And it feels like the tivo remote.

As far as I can tell the 670 and 680 have the same button layout. Don't know if they still sell the 680. The 670 may have replaced it......just a guess.
I use my old Tivo remote on my back porch. The reciever is in the kitchen by the window. It has no problems with the glass. I wouldn't expect any problems with Harmony 670 and glass either.

So now get the 670 or 880? I don't care about recharging that much.
Is the screen that much better? The 880 overall better? 670 easier for the wife to figure out?
EDIT:
I can get the 670 for $109 shipped. The 880 is $185 shipped?
Anyone think the 880 id $80+ better?
Trying to stay on a budget here.... :(

Agree, I use the 680 and when a friend asked what he should get I went to the Harmony site and, at the time, the 680 was no longer listed and the 670 was "coming soon". Now, it's available. That's the one to get.

Ok, so it's still 60+ more. I think I am leaning that way.... :p

$189.99
code - tcr15 (from the store thread)
so $161.50
not that bad compared to others.
it was listed at 150 plus a discount when i got it though, but that's still not bad.
I know bestbuy has them if you want to LOOK at them (250 there)
I think it depends on what you want in terms of look/feel as they are all a little different

I have both a 659 and an 880, and I actually prefer the 659. The 880's buttons are quite close together and are quite sensitive. The 659's are properly spaced and are rubbery, which gives them a more "sturdy" feel. The only gripe with the 659 is that I have junk rechargeables in it and have to charge them frequently.
Look at the pics of each remote and decide which button layout you like best and/or will be easier to operate.
Personally my wife was very familiar with the regular Tivo remote, thus the purchase of the 680/670. It took a little getting used to but she got the hang of it very quickly. By the way the cost was definitely a factor as well.
FYI on the 880. Not everyone, but some people...including a good friend of mine, have problems with the 880 holding a charge. Some say that it does not connect very well with the recharging cradle. My friend has to put a book on top of the remote while it is charging, otherwise it will not fully charge up. He also says that the charge life has greatly decreased over the past year.
Just my 2 cents.

I got the older 628 on sale from Amazon ($13 with $25 coupon). Works great for me. I'm controlling three DirecTV TiVos with it, along with my Mits HD RPTV, Sony receiver, DVD recorder and DVD player. Oh yeah and my HTL-HD non-DVR DirecTV HD receiver.

and have been using it for a year now. It maps all of the transport buttons just fine. The only buttons that I do not have are the Thumbs up and Down buttons mapped. I never found a use for them.
Just about any of the Harmony units should work just fine with Tivo.
I have an activity set up for TV which controls the Tv, HR10, audio amplifer, and room lighting from a single interface. Love it.

After reading the above, the 676 is still the best for TIVO usage. The thumb just slides up off the ring to the ff and rw buttons. Just above ff is play. Can't beat it.
The 670 has the transport buttons in a circle around the d-pad and they are not as easy to use without looking.

I just order the 670 model and it arrives on Wednesday!
best choice for me and for the money.
Also I don't use the Thumbs Up/Down bottoms at all.

Thumbs Down is needed if you need to perform a clear data function etc.
I have Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down buttons incorporated on the display. Still use them every now and then. Easy to set-up.
I have the 680 which I purchased at at the beginning of October to coincide with the arrival of my HR20. I looked at all of the button layouts and decided that I like the 680 layout the best. The 680 replaced my HTM MX-500 and it is a far superior remote. I bought mine at Electronica Direct via Amazon and paid less than $80, but there is currently only one showing on Amazon for about $100.
I can easily duplicate the remote for both the HR10 and HR20, as well as my A/V receiver, DVD player/recorder, CD jukebox, an old VCR, my X-10 lights, and even my nano!
The 676 is very similar, except that the transport buttons (play, FF, RW, etc.) are located across two rows above the OK button/direction ring while on the 680 they are grouped around the direction ring. The 680 actually has a button for Live and one for Rec'd (Recorded); I don't think the other Harmony remotes have these buttons.
There is a thread at remotecentral.com (http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-harmony/thread.cgi?4251) which has very good close-up views of each Harmony model, so you can really compare the layouts. The button layouts are the biggest difference betwen most Harmony remotes.

Ditto on the 676 for a heavy transport controls user. I have 3 of them. Then the 880 and 659. Would not recommend the 659 for a TiVo. The 880 is not bad and I have not tried the 628.

When I tried Harmony remotes, I found that they weren't quite as responsive as the original TiVo remote. In particular, I use 30s skip to jump through commercials, and hitting the skip button 6 times with the TiVo remote felt a lot faster than it did on the Harmony. The small difference in latency was really annoying to me because I used this functionality so frequently. Does anyone know if Harmony has gotten better with sending TiVo remote codes quickly?

Somewhere within your Harmony website that opens when you connect your remote to your computer is a section to adjust the timing of button presses. I know this completely fixed my issue of sometimes having the up/down arrows either not be seen, or be seen twice. I don't remember if I had to adjust my times up or down, but my gut tells me I had to decrease the times.
