They still have 2006 up on their website:
www.tivo.com/ces
remember the disappointment when we noticed the website and then the only thing added to it was "CES 2006 is over. See you next year!"

TiVo just seems to not be on CES time with their new releases. About the only thing to have really coincided lately was the S3 and even that had its predecessors that just gave TiVo more heartburn than good by talking about it at CES.
Looking at the past year, all TiVo could do to have a smash at CES was to hold off on releasing 7 and 8x stuff like WPA support and TiVo desktop conversion to mpeg4 - keep testing away for those remaining months in 2006 and release them now. I personally like that they released them as soon as they could instead. YMMV.

How about if they announce at the CES that they really messed up TiVoToGo with their new software release, but they'll have a fix date by [insert date here].
That would be awesome.

New Service Is First to Combine TiVo's Award-winning DVR Features and Comcast's Signature ON DEMAND Service on One Set-Top Box
LAS VEGAS, NV — January 08, 2007 — Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA, CMCSK), the nation's leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services, and TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ: TIVO), the creator of and leader in television services for digital video recorders (DVRs), are demonstrating a new TiVo® service for Comcast DVRs at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The companies began trialing the TiVo service for Comcast DVRs in late 2006.
The new service will offer consumers the ease and convenience of using a single digital cable set-top box to enjoy popular TiVo DVR features along with Comcast's innovative video-on-demand (VOD) service and the most high-definition (HD) television viewing choices for the first time. Working in concert with Comcast, TiVo has developed a software application that will enable Comcast to deploy the service for a modest monthly fee to existing set-top boxes without an additional in-home visit by a technician.
"The combination of our signature Comcast ON DEMAND and HD services with the TiVo interface will provide customers with the only integrated access to all of these outstanding services from one set-top box," said Mark Hess, Senior Vice President of Video Product Development for Comcast. "TiVo has been a great partner in developing this service, and we're proud of the work that our teams have done to deliver our customers a product that's simple, easy to use and is a great value."
"Collaborating with Comcast to make the state-of-the-art TiVo service available on their existing hardware platform is an important accomplishment for both companies," said Jeff Klugman, Senior Vice President for TiVo's Service Provider Division. "We're thrilled that the benefits of TiVo will soon be available to Comcast's millions of subscribers. Consumers know that it is not TiVo, unless it is a TiVo, and the TiVo service will enhance the cable television experience."
Comcast customers who choose the TiVo service will enjoy TiVo's Emmy Award-winning user interface and premium DVR features, smart search and discovery features including WishList® searches and TiVo Suggestions, plus improved scheduling and recording management through such features as Season Pass™ recordings. Comcast's unique service features, like the broadest selection of HD programming and more than 8,000 ON DEMAND programs each month will be fully integrated with the TiVo service, making it easy for customers to find great programming on traditional television channels and ON DEMAND.

To get all the features in the Mac version you'd have to pay at least $99 on a PC. Since the Mac product includes Sonic and TivoToGo Plus.

not to mention the really nice player included in the roxio package that has the trick play interface. Something that is a serious lack on the Windows side.
Oh well. MAybe TiVo can make use of the download idea for comcast and next year we can just click a button to get all the features downloaded and setup without all this pesky waiting around.
I hope they announce something about downloading shows that people actually care about over the internet. Tive needs an competitive offering similar to that of Xbox360, Vongo and soon Apple.

TiVo: Yes PC is FREE and Mac is a FEE!To get all the features in the Mac version you'd have to pay at least $99 on a PC.Respectfully, that misses the point. If PC users don't want those features or prefer to use other tools for them, they pay nothing. Mac users have been told "get all features in a for-pay bundle, or get zero after years of promises."

With all due respect, if the software had been easier to write for the Mac it would have been free. It shouldn't be a surprise that they would have you pay for something that had to be outsourced to accomplish. Besides Mac users should be used to getting the shaft in having to pay more for their stuff. :)
Also, I'm here to tell you that while the PC options are free, they are hardly a tightly integrated bundle and Sonic MYDVD is the biggest PITA on the planet. For basic TiVo2go features however the plus pack is the way to go, and that is hardly a free option.

+1 I would gladly pay just to get a great player as the elGato one bundled into the roxio offering for Mac. Windows media player sucks.

Comcast recorder boxes to get TiVo
MAY WONG
Associated Press
LAS VEGAS - TiVo Inc. and Comcast Corp. on Monday unveiled the long-awaited fruits of an agreement to work together: A cable box that runs TiVo's digital-video-recorder software.
The collaboration between the largest U.S. cable operator and TiVo was announced to great fanfare in March 2005 and has been considered one of the most significant deals for the DVR pioneer. TiVo has been facing tough competition against a growing number of less expensive DVRs from cable and satellite TV operators, including Comcast.
Soon, for an additional fee, Comcast subscribers will be able to add TiVo DVR features to their existing set-top boxes without a visit from a technician, Comcast said. The actual launch plans were unclear, but the companies said they have been testing the service since late 2006.
The companies also did not disclose how much more the TiVo software will cost. Comcast customers currently pay about $10 a month for a basic DVR service on top of their regular TV service charge.
The two companies plan to demonstrate the new TiVo-based service at the International Consumer Electronics Show this week.
Digital video recorders let TV watchers search for and easily record their favorite shows onto a hard drive without the hassles of video tapes. It also lets users pause live TV, do instant replays and zip past commercials.
TiVo's service is known for its slick, easy-to-use interface and advanced features such as suggesting programs a user might enjoy, the ability to transfer TiVo recordings for viewing on PCs and portable devices, and the ability to schedule last-minute recordings via the Web.
It has been challenging for the company, however, to differentiate itself.
Shares of TiVo gained 20 cents, or 3.7 percent, to $5.65 in afternoon trading, while Comcast's stock gained 19 cents to $42.74, both on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
