View Full Version : New S3 setup Problem

Hi guys,

I just received my new s3 from the d3ll deal. My cable cards wont be here until next next Saturday, so i thought i would see what i can channels come in with straight cable. only a small problem. Tivo doesn't get past the powering up screen. it says a few more minutes but i let it go for hours with no change. i read some people had a problem with HDMI so today i connected it via component and its the same. it did go through to the guided setup one time yesterday and i walked through the questions until it was attempting to update over the network. it rebooted and hung up at the just a few minutes more screen and hasn't moved. i tried unplugging it and rebooting, same thing happens each time. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have a bad unit? I'm hoping someone here knows the answer.

I cannot answer why do you have the problem, only what I did.

When my S3 came, I did guided setup about a week before the cablecards came. I used the HDMI cable to the TV. The guided setup had no issues and I got most TV stations afterwards.

Unfortunately sounds like a bad unit.

if it is bad, who should replace it? d3ll or tivo?

Dell would replace it with a new one if they have stock or give you a refund. TiVo would replace it but likely it will be a refurbished unit. Since you have a cablecard install next Sat, if Dell can't send you a new one right away you might want to look elsewhere.

d3ll csr offered to replace it and send the new one next day....if it happens...i can still keep the cable card install appt!!!
