I have read most of the threads about cable card problems, and it seems like it is settling down. Also it seems like some areas are better than others.

I am a LONG time Tivo user who just got a MOXI and cannot stand the lame interface and 2 seconds of record time. I want my old Tivo back, and am willing to shell out the $1,300 for a new high capacity S3 and $200 to switch my lifetime service. However, I am worried about the problems that I have read about.

Before I pull the trigger, does anyone have experience in Medford or the area? Thanks in advance.

I am not in Oregon, but am a Charter customer in St. Louis that had Moxi. I dearly missed my Tivo for HD and was first in line to buy a S3 to get rid of the toy quality Moxi box. I have been throughly impressed with my S3 even with the loss of TivoToGo, MRV, etc. I can wait for those to show up, since Moxi didn't have them either.

The cable cards install was a breeze, sort of. The tech's didn't know which direction to put them in, the put them in a$$ end first. I told them (I'm a comouter engineer) to let me take a look and tuened them around and after that in 20 minutes I was HD, Digi cable and OTA ready.

In the monetary department I am saving around $35 a month for the Moxi box and in 2 years or less I will be even on renting verses owning my S3.

S3 has all the cool features of S1/S2 boxes with backdoor codes and the THX make the sound better.

If you like TIVO, taking the plunge will be a simple decision.

Installations vary depending on your cable company signal quality and the clown that's sent out to do the install.
