Hello,

I ordered an S3 from PageComputer on 12/31. My order was cancelled late yesterday. My primary concern is that I get one and be able to transfer my S2 lifetime sub to it.

I know that there were discussions that TiVo didn't really have any way of effectively determining when the TiVo was bought, so that as long as I had one and transfered the sub by the end of January, I would be fine.

I see now that TiVo has upgraded its offer page to "TiVo® Series3™ HD DVR purchase required by 1/31/2007 and activation of the DVR is required by 03/02/2007."

What is unclear from this page is whether the newly extended offer only applies to TiVos bought directly from TiVo at $799 a pop. Does anyone know if the offer applies to S3s bought from a third-party dealer?

If not, I will rush order one (from a reputable dealer--PageComputer's web site listed them as IN STOCK when I ordered) to take advantage of the terms of the old offer which required transfer by 1/31/2007.

I am very risk averse and want to avoid the problems that others have been having with transfering a lifetime sub.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave:
I ordered mine from The TiVo Community Site and had no issue transferring my S2 lifetime to it. I called, they took the number from the S3 and I was good to go. That was a few weeks back.

I'm pretty sure the wording on the old offer and the current one are identical on these points. Both stated "Buy your TiVo Series3 HD Digital Media Recorder for $799.99."

Yes, They did, I have hard copy of the old one.

I had no problem transferring my Series 2 .. the only problem was I had 3 series 2 and they had to ask which one and put me on hold several times.

I bought my Series 3 from an off price site (not here) see the pricegrabber page http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=26543910 for very good prices.

Btw, I am not endorsing them, but I used Abe's of Maine (which is in New Jersy and not Maine!?) ordered 12/23 and received 12/27. I was also trying to make it under the 12/31 deadline. I would consider converting another series2, but not until they support MRV.
