I bought lifetime for my S3, it came in the form of a Series 1. So I had a spare series one to get rid of, I did wonder how much they were worth. The answer is not much, mine just went for $46 on eBay.

If anyone is planning to sell one, you might want to make plans to sell it to Australia, New Zealand or South Africa. Despite these being PAL countries, I got at least 2 enquiries for shipping to each of these countries. The slow boat would cost $46-54 for shipping via the USPS. I also discovered you can buy PAL demodulators to mod your Series 1 for these countries.

PS: I also found that an upgraded HR10 can substantially fund the purchase of an S3. Mine just went for $686.

What does this mean? You bought a series 1 with lifetime and had it transferred to the S3? Then sold the (pretty much useless) S1 for $46?

I guess the question would be how much did you pay for the S1 lifetime to get the transfer, minus the $46 you salvaged after raping it of its original value? Purchase price with lifetime minus sale price without lifetime equals value of lifetime. I'm guessing you got a good deal!

And the answer to the other question is probably "too much".

Well, you did have 600GB in there. :)

Did your S1 include 1 year of service (or were you transferring the lifetime service from your S1 to your S3 under the grandfather clause)?

Yeah, I saw tivodownunder.com is only operating until the end of this month. I think it was some kind of settlement with TiVo. They have all the mods to convert an S1 to PAL and can even get guide data. I wonder why TiVo doesn't see this as an opportunity to do business down under? I have a couple of boat anchors (er, I mean unsubbed S1's) myself after tranferring their lifetimes to S3's and I was wondering what to do with them myself. Maybe I'll try an ebay auction for them and offer shipping options to Australia and New Zealand.
