I did a search for this subject but I was surprised that I couldn't find it. Surely this is something that bothers other Tivo users as well.

I love my S3 but one minor thing bugs me: when I choose to Clear Display Quickly, the display is on for only a few milliseconds, far to quick to read any information. On my old S2 it was quick too, but at least it stayed on for about a 1/4 second, just enough time to see the channel number.

So why does Tivo have this feature at all? I can understand it if they had an option for no display, but why have a quick display when it's impossible to read it?

The normal display stays on for about 10 seconds, far too long for my tastes. I would like the display to be on for at least a second, or 2 seconds at best.

Am I the only one here who has this problem?

Interestingly, I just noticed this today when I changed it trying to browse quickly through channels to see what I actually wanted to keep. I actually changed mine back quickly to standard, but changed the display to the little "bubble" in the upper right-hand corner. All I really want to know is that I made it to the proper channel, and having the description up there for that long was annoying me! I agree with you that it's not the most useful implementation of the feature!

I would guess it is a leftover feature from the Series 2 software (when S2's used cable boxes that showed their own channel info banners) and probably isn't really needed for the S3 since it has CableCards.

As Danitaz mentioned, you can change the style of banner from the full sized one that has all the data and description, to just a bar across the top of the screen that just has the name of the program and channel number and name or just a little bubble on the top right which just shows channel number and name.

The feature worked much better on Series 2 and Directv's. With the series 3 it is either too quick or on the screen too long.
