Matt's dad sure is broken. I'd guess he went into the military to escape his family, or at least stays in it for that reason.

I'm glad they found some use for Landry, I just hope we don't have to endure another minute of his "band." :)

I thought it was a fantastic episode tonight. I loved it.

I thought it was a very good episode. For a moment I though Matt was going to move in to live with the coach and his family.

I thought the same thing. And I think it still may happen. He is going to have to get a new guardian there if he is going to stay.

Definitely one of the best of the season and Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler just keep proving that they have some awesome chemistry together. Every scene they are in together I just want it to go on and on.

Saracen's dad is an ass.

Those roids are really starting to pay off for Smash.

Lyla is still hot as hell.

The bar scene with the two wheelchair guys was incredible.

One of the best new shows of the season at least #2 for me behind Dexter.

Is there going to be a replay of this ep on Bravo or elsewhere? Combination of FNL moving to Wednesday and not realizing that According to Jim was still on and we still had a SP for it and King of Queens which had higher priority since they are older SPs meant FNL was not recorded. I don't really even like Jim and KoQ. To make it worse, they are replaying Jim on Friday, so I did not even need to record it last night. I also hate when they move the broadcast time of shows which creates conflicts that did not exist before. Priorities have been changed for next week, but I still need to see this week's ep.

They remove episode within a few days of broadcast. FNL is among the best, if not the best, drama on TV now.

Is there anyway to download the video from NBC so I can watch in on my TV later? I know I can find a torrent of it, but I am wondering specifically about the NBC site.

I love this show, but if the team is so good and the coach is getting offers from Texas then why is it only one of the games has been a blowout? The nailbiting effect of every single game gets a little tiresome.

Other than that, great show!

I can't believe I am saying this because I love football, but this show is really not about football. It is about the characters and relationships. The football is secondary, but that doesn't matter. Great show. I am hooked. Watched the majority of the eps over the holidays. Very surprised on how much I liked it.

Bravo has been replaying but not for weeks. Your best bet is a torrent.

or iTunes.

Anyway, another fantastic episode.

It's Matt's dad an ass? I agree with Doug's assement. He's using is military service/Iraq thing to simply avoid dealing with a tough situation at home.

Sill liking Lyla a whole lot. She and Jason will be back together soon. He just needs to tell her how he still feels about her.

I did the same...recorded the Bravo marathon, then caught the last three from NBC's "marathon" two weeks ago.

I love this show, but if the team is so good and the coach is getting offers from Texas then why is it only one of the games has been a blowout? He's being offered the job of QB coach. Since he took a young QB who had never played in a single game and during the season got him to a respectable playing level in the state with the toughest high school football in the country, I don't find that much of a stretch personally.

I was actually thinking he would get emancipated and keep taking care of his grandmother, with Coach/Mrs. Coach probably working something out to get him some help with her.

There's not much drama in a blowout - unless your star quarterback suffers a career ending injury.

I can't believe I am saying this because I love football, but this show is really not about football. It is about the characters and relationships. The football is secondary, but that doesn't matter. Great show.
I don't know Texas football myself, but I get the feeling that the show does a pretty good job of giving a taste of what all "surrounds" the Texas football fanaticism (meant in a good way).

I agree - a very good TV show! I hope it finds enough of an audience.

I thought they blocked the punt with about 11 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, and then scored to win without showing the time remaining on the clock. That is not necessarily a nailbiter. I could be wrong.

Another great episode. The only downside was no trampy Tyra, but that's okay - she will apparently have a more prominent role next week.

I love - *love* - the dynamic between Coach Taylor and Mrs. Taylor. Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton (who is smoking hot, btw) are great actors and have great chemistry together. They are absolutely believable together (and I loved the "as usualy, my wife is always right" crack that he made to Riggins).

The Riggins-Landry interaction was interesting, and enlightening, as well. Nice way to round out some of the other characters. Riggins is not as dumb as he appears, but it was interesting to see how much in denial he was over how "Of Mice and Men" paralleled his life and friendship with Street.

I also liked the scene with Street and Mrs. Taylor, and how she told him that forgiveness is not weak. The writers are sure not taking the easy way out with Lyla/Street.

And Saracen and his dad - whew. Where to begin? Saracen's dad clearly does not want to deal with the issues at home - he recognizes the situation is too much for Matt, but he wants to take the easy way out rather than trying to do what's best for everyone. But hell, if I was on leave for 2 weeks from Iraq, I probably wouldn't want to deal either.

What a great, great show.

Yikes, I thought that no Tyra was one of the best parts of the episode and I'm not looking forward to tonight's episode featuring her issues.

Other than that, I love the show for all the reasons everyone else has already said. Last night's was the first that didn't make me cry, though some of the stuff with Saracen and his Dad made me come close!

I watched the whole first half of the season over the holidays, after I found out that my wife started watching it while I was taking finals and watched the whole thing in a few days.

This was a good ep. It's interesting to see how Matt's dad feels the loyalty to his unit and wouldn't ever dream of trying to get out early, but is trying to get out of dealing with his mother's problems by tossing her in a home and disrupting everyone else's life. It shows how devoted our servicemen are to their jobs, and how many problems are created at home by them being away.

OK, I'll agree with that, but it's not like it's an unbelievable plot story. I'm sure stuff like that is very common. And I also think it's seen as very uncool for soldiers to take advantage of legitimate opportunities to get out of their service, so I thought that part of it was pretty realistic.

It didn't come across that way to me. He didn't come across as a hero willing to make sacrifices for his country. To me, he came across as someone he didn't want to deal with his family, and would just as easily be making the same decisions if he was not in the service.

Now maybe that is not the way they wanted it to come off, but that is the way it came off to me.

I also saw something similar. To me, he was portrayed as a fanatic, so concerned with his job in Iraq that he didn't care about what was going on with his family and he did not want to be bothered or inconvenienced.

On the one hand, I can understand having a passion for your job and feeling resentful of someone asking you to quit/leave. But on the other hand, he should put his family first.

Oh, don't get me wrong. He is totally avoiding his family duties. However, whether it came through or not, it's not looked upon highly to leave the service in the middle of a tour, which is why I'm sure he wouldn't even discuss it. I think what they were trying to show was that the problems of his family were so far down on his priority list that despite the difficulties Matt and Grandma were having, he was still more interested in fulfilling his duties with his unit and tried to find the solution that would be the least inconvenient for him, regardless of how inconvenient it was for others.
