Some Channels Black out when Recording

When I record anything on my DirecTV series 2 Tivo, some channels mostly in the 230 to 290 range are blacked out, any ideas why?

I do not have to separate cables coming from the antenna into the TV, rather just one that gets split before connecting to the Tivo, can this be the problem? even though most channel do show up when I am recording?

If this is the problem is there a better way to split the cable without having to draw a separate cable from the antenna?

Since DAY 1 of DirecTV, they have said "DON'T USE A SPLITTER". Details of why are in the Dish and Multi-switch FAQ at the top of the page.

is there a better way to split the cable without having to draw a separate cable from the antenna? You can use a stacker/destacker but they are expensive and have their own limitations. Run another cable like millions of other people have.
