I'm trying to figure out if my hardrive is bad. I have been getting these random reboots about twice a week (that I know of) like several others on this site but in my case in addition (for about a month now) my Tivo has been sluggish to respond to controls. Fast forwarding can be slow to respond and sometimes when I go from one screen to another it hangs a little, the harddrive is 2+ years old. Does this sound like a harddrive going bad or could this have anything to do with the random reboots people are getting?

First of all, what model TiVo is this? But, I'd have to say that this is a hard drive failure.

It's a Series 2 Samsung SIR-S4080R. Thanks I'll order a replacement from Weaknees before it goes completely out and I'm without my Tivo.

I have another question though after I install the new harddrive. About a month ago I installed a replacement harddrive from Weaknees in my son's Tivo and tried to "Repeat Guided Setup" but ended up having to call DTV to talk me through it. It seems they had to have me change some satellite settings that the guided setup couldn't do or get right. Is there somewhere in the Tivo menu that will tell me what the satellite settings are I can copy down so when I do the guided setup I wouldn't have to call DTV?

You really just need to follow the directions when you go into Repeat Guided Setup.
