comcast phone service tivo not calling

I have the older version tivo that makes a phone call using phone line worked great until i had comcast install there phone service know when i plug the tivo phone line in it will not make the call in and also all my phones stop working until i unplug the line from tivo. anyone have this troble with comcast phone???/ i called comcast just got the run around blaming tivo.... any help thanks :(

I would call back and not mention the tivo, a phone call is a phone call right? Maybe call again from a cell phone next time and say that it is intermittent. Also search the forums for similar problems with Vonage, I remember seeing other posts and maybe workarounds.

I had this problem with cablevision optimum voice service and an older series 2 (240 model)...turned out it was the tivo. It couldn't use the VOIP service to get updates, but then I got a new series 2 (540 model) and it worked...so....

edit: I switched all my tivo's to go wireless since and never looked back.......

edit2: I would do a search if I were you, I remember reading up on the same issues in the help center and there was some kind of adapter that you could plug into the tivo...or maybe that was for it to work with dsl, not 100% sure.
