will a DSR6000 upgade from software version 2.5

Afte a hard drive failure, I restored an old backup image which happens to be version 2.5-01. Tivo is plugged into a phone line and able to make calls -- will this tivo upgate to 3.5 on it's own or do I need to start with a newer backup file?

only hacked to use an 80 gb hard drive instead of the original 40 gb. It's made the daily calls the last 2 days on its own tieing up the phone line for about 45 minutes each time. The status of the call says sucessful rather than the pending restart to let me know new software is ready to install.
