View Full Version : "Record by Title" problem.

Suddenly, on my son's R-10 (only using one tuner), if you go to "Record by Title," and type in a letter, only a relative handful of programs come up (maybe six for each letter). This is with no filters on channels. There is full guide data on the regular day and time guide. "Favorite Channels" is set up correctly. It has been re-set several times. A CSR did a re-authorization with no change. The cable has been physically examined.

Everything else is working fine except for the very limited number of programs coming up at the "Record by Title" screen.

I got to a fourth level (I think) of CSR. Their final suggestion was to do a "clear and delete." This, of course, would wipe out my son's hard drive ( not a good thing at all).

Any other ideas that would leave recorded programming intact?

Thanks in advance.

Actually, good news. I just checked it again to see if WishLists was working, and now everything is working.

The CSR (who was very professional, but only 8 months on the job, and through his own admission, still not certain of higher level stuff), must have done something that eventually worked (the reauthorization, perhaps?). Everything is there now. :D :D :D :D

edit: I just noticed that it indexed at 10:09 this morning. That would have been after talking to the CSR. Does that explain it suddenly being fixed?

another edit: Oops! I just more fully read the thread you sent me. Your symptom was just like mine, it repaired with an indexing, and your advice to not clear and delete was obviously excellent.

In other words, OldDog, you duh man.

Our has been doing the same. It isn't showing up and then it shows that it is all working but I hate to say, I am not confident it is fixed.

According to the D* rep I spoke to last night, the cause of the problem is NOT even diagnosed, let alone fixed.
