Not sure if this has been discussed, but does anybody have any insight into what Liberty Media might do regarding the TIVO relationship? With News corp leaving the picture, what are the odds that Liberty drops the homegrown DVR relationship and strengthens the the Tivo relationship?

There are strong rumors that NDS will be dropped as a DirecTV supplier started by stock analysts. There are weak rumors that DirecTV will pick up TiVo again as a supplier before their 5 year contract expires in February. NDS looks like history, but will DirecTV go back to TiVo or try somebody else? That's the big question mark.

FYI, there's a sticky thread on DBSTalk about this.

Also a thread here that hasn't had new replies for over a week.

If you are referring to this article:
http://biz.yahoo.com/seekingalpha/061231/23195_id.html?.v=1

That specifically states Interactive and Pay-TV
Those are two features that are part of all the DirecTV system.
The way I read the article, that is MIX channels, Active, and the other interactive pieces... and possible the PPV or security mechanisms.

Not the DVR's.

The R15 is more of an NDS box (it's core engine is from NDS)
The HR20 is not, I am not sure who's middleware it is, but it isn't the same one as the R15.

If they can clean up the HR20 some, and they don't go with what the cable companies are using, I think it'll be fine. I've played with the cable DVRs, and usually I can just get right into something and play with it and figure it out, but these cable DVRs stump me. I'd probably smash the thing out of frustration lol I think I'd rather use a VCR than a cable DVR lol

And when was a last time stock analysts started the rumor that was correct? :)
