I just got a Grandfathered Tivo on Ebay and was wondering if anyone has an idea of how many grandfathered Tivo are still left on the market. Lifetime beofre January 2000.

I also suspect the value of these will go up significantly after the Lifetime gift cards expire (about April 2008).

Well some people will pay anything to avoid a monthly bill so it may not be a rational price you could get for the grandfathered S1 but there has to be some upper limit on what a lifetime is worth.

Right now the S3 is the only box I would pay money to lifetime but since it can not do MRV/TTG yet and it remains to be seen how that would even work with HD content I am not sure I would lifetime that box, especially if it involved more than the 199$ offer to transfer a lifetime.

anyway you should see some boost [ETA] when the lifetime transfer off to an S3 is off the table and by April 2008 perhaps the S4 will be worth paying a considerable amount for lifetime on

Lifetime transfer to S3 is not yet off the table - only for units bought directly from TiVo.

I've read this on a few other threads too. So this is really the case? You can still buy an S3 (from anyone but Tivo) in January and as long as you transfer the lifetime sub for $199 by 1/31/2007, you can still do it?

I'm still very much on the fence on the S3, plus I would like to hear what's possibly going to be announced at CES. I use MRV all the time and want to read that they got Cablelabs approval for it.

I've read rumors in other places that at least MRV may be coming (not sure if that means that S3 downverts anything that is sent to a S2).
