This is re-posted from the help forum where I was unsuccessful in getting any responses. Do not know if i can move a post and this looked like a better forum. Hope I did not break any rules, written or unwritten.
I am awaiting my 1st TiVo [S2 DT] to arrive after sending it in for warranty [USB port problem-see my earlier post]. I am trying to get everything I need, software that is, to be ready. I have Nero 7 Ultra. Two questions:
1. Is the Nero decoder [NeVideo] capable for playing the .tivo transferred files?
2. Can Nero 7 burn the transfers to a DVD or must I use Sony MyDVD?
PS Do not care if WMP works or not-I am not a big Bill Gates fan

OK, I see these questions covered here-I see why there are no simple answers. I'm a newbie, OK? Cut me some slack!

I'll answer the other half of the question in this thread. :D

On a virgin machine I have here with nothing but WinXP, WMP11, TivoDesktop 2.3a, and Nero Ultra... seems to play a High Quality Tivo file perfectly. Can click on the timeline in WMP11 and jump to any point in time without any problems. YMMV. Escpecially when you start mixing in other codecs.
Edit: wanted to add that I've never seen it spelled NeVideo. Mine is listed as "Nero Video Decoder". Sure we are talking about the same codec?

Yes, I got that name from the MS free utility for checking for MPEG decoders-it is probably the file name associated with Nero Video Decoder [I can't look on my PC where I have the utility as power is out all over the city and am using my laptop on battery and router on UPS system-may not last long]

Yeah, I see that now; NeVideo.ax 2.2.4.4
Are you experiencing the Y2K7 bug out there or what? :p

Hah! Could be-very rare to ever loose power but this must be a major problem. Been off for at least an hour already and I am living on borrowed time with my UPS!
