Trying to hook up a tivo series 2 with a charter cable box. The cable box is currently hooked up to the TV ColorStream HD1 input. It has the standard RCA cables, Red, Yellow and White plus the component YPbPr (Blue and Green). In following the install guide from Tivo I get a picture but it is fuzzy and black and white. Not sure which cables I am supposed to be using if any of the composite?

Thanks

Which cables are you using for the connection? Composite or component? Your TiVo can't use the component output of the cable box. So use the composite (r/w/y or s-video) from cable box to TiVo, then the same from TiVo to the TV.

Yeah, but, he can't plug the composite into the TV's ColorStream HD1 (component?) input, right? Have to find another composite input on the TV. Or get a switchbox.

Thanks I think that has been the problem, I have been using the composite into the HD1 stream. I just plugged it into a composite and it is sort of working. Right now I have basic cable channels but the HD channels are not working correctly. They are in black and white and have no sound.

Actually we are not getting any HD. The connections are:

Yellow, Red, White out of TIVO to TV IN - Video 1

Yellow,Red,White out of Cable Box to TIVO IN

Cable goes to Splitter then to Cable Box and TIVO.

Should we be able to get HD still? Or will the TIVO only work on input 1 and HD on input ColorStream HD1?

Thanks for the assistance.

You're not going to get any HD out of the tivo, no.
