Is this possible? I have been a TiVo user for a long time and originally purchased my TiVo with a lifetime membership and now want to add a second Tivo. All the boxes that I can find require you to sign up for a monthly or yearly fee. What is one to do?
TIA

If you have a DirecTV TiVo lifetime account you can add another unit with no monthly fee, they just don't talk about it because lifetime is not an option anymore, I have 4 units on my account and only pay the mirroring fee just like any regular receiver would cost.

I wonder if the OP is referring to standalone boxes?

I was, in fact, referring to DirecTiVo boxes. Where do you buy a TiVo that is unencumbered by the need to sign up for some sort of membership?

For DirecTiVo boxes, if you have an existing Lifetime DVR service subscription with DirecTV (which you would have if you had a lifetime DTiVo), then you simply obtain a new DTiVo and add it to your account. You pay the standard mirroring fee but not another DVR fee.
All of the text you're reading about "membership" is for standalone TiVos and doesn't apply to DTiVos.

And NOT that I am suggesting this is the way to go, (LOL) but even if you add non-Tivo DVR's (the newer D* DVR+'s) you STILL get lifetime DVR free on those as well, as long as they are on your account. :) ;)

Can you add a Series 3 onto your lifetime subscription? I had read that you could't: http://www.wkblog.com/2007/01/directv_lifetime_no_longer_tra.html
I have a series 1 now with a lifetime that I purchased 5.5 years ago. Wonder that my options are to add another one or even upgrade my series 1.
Thx

Wrong forum - our discussion was regarding D* lifetime DVR subs... ;) ;)
