I just received a Linksys WRT300n 802.11n router for xmas which I hope to set it up this weekend. Currently I have a series 2 Tivo system. I'm reading good things about the Tivo wireless adapter. Is this compatible with my new router? Are there any better ones out there for use with a 802.11n network?

Thanks for the help.

The Tivo G adapter should work just fine with it.
There are no Tivo compatible 802.11n network adapters and the TiVo wireless G adapter is the best adapter available.

Thanks Mick.

Does anyone know how fast the transfer speed is from tivo to PC using The Tivo G adapter? There's supposed to be a substantial increase with the 802.11n router so I was wondering if it would be worth it to try and find a compatible n card if in fact there is one out there for the tivo?

The only way you'll get 802.11n from tivo to router would be via an Ethernet cable from the TiVo (possibly with a USB-Ethernet adapter, if your model doesn't have ethernet built in), and then an 802.11n wireless bridge.

TiVo's wireless adapter gives speeds roughly comparable to it's ethernet connection -- the lower CPU power of the TiVo itself tends to be your greatest restriction on speed. You would get *slightly* faster speeds from the TiVo by going with the ethernet bridge.

However, I'm not an expert on routers (especially 802.11n) but there might be an advantage if you can make it an 802.11n ONLY network (no support for b/g). In which case, while there would be no advantage with the TiVo, your network speeds in general would increase. (In this case, probably only useful if you do computer-to-computer transfers, since your connection to the Internet is almost definitely slower than 802.11g)
