View Full Version : USB ports stopped working?

I have a Humax DRT800 that I've been connecting using a D-link wireless USB adapter for about two years now. Everything worked great until about two weeks ago when it stopped being able to connect to the network. I did a small amount of testing and it seemed like the USB adapter was probably bad.

I had some rewards points saved up and so I used them to get the TiVo USB adapter (which made it to my place 3 days after I ordered it ). Everything worked great for a couple of days, but as of today it has stopped working again. I've tried rebooting and using both USB ports. The adapter lights up, but the TiVo tells me that there is no device plugged in.

Any ideas?

^Bump.

If it is the USB ports is it possible to replace whatever controls the ports? Any way to test something besides a wireless adapter in the USB ports to see if this is the culprit?

Thanks,
Dylan

Do you have more than one PC?

For example, the thought coming to me is to plug the TIVO wireless adapter (antenna) into a laptop and see if your other PC can connect to that.

If so, then it should prove the 'health' of the wireless adapter is okay - therefore narrowing down the problem to inside the Humax.

Just a harebrained scheme of mine is all. :)

I just tried it in my laptop after disabling the internal wireless card, and the PC didn't see it. I also tried the old adapter that I thought was bad, and the Tivo now was able to see it and my network and connect.

When I originally tested the D-link adapter I tried it on a separate TiVo and my laptop, and both were not able to see the adapter also. But now the D-link seems to be working fine on everything...?

Sorry, beyond this I am not much of a networking expert.
Maybe someone else will hit the nail on the head.

I have a DRT800 also. What are the model and rev. numbers of the two adapters you have tried?
