Multiple TiVo's Without Addtional Service

I would like to know if it is possible to add a second TiVo to my network but not have it actively record and therefore avoid the additional surcharge for monthly service. All I want to be able to do is shuttle programs from the main TiVo to the other TiVo so that y wife and I can watch shows on separate TVs if we want to.

No. A tivo without the suervice is a doorstop.

The MRV and TTG functions are only activated by you on the TIVO.com site.

(multi-room viewing = transfer between tivos)
