I am unable to receive CW, FOX, and CBS, even though they show on my channel guide. Also, the channel guide shows that NBC should be channel 4 and Home Shopping Channel is 34, but when you go to channel 4 it shows the Home shopping and channel 34 shows NBC. This is similar with ABC. Tivo customer service was no help. They insist that my cable company (Cox) has changed the line up, but my other cable boxes show the correct line up and channels are where they have always been. I am considering giving up on TIVO. Has anyone had a similar problem and know a fix?

Sounds like you might have chosen the wrong lineup during Guided Setup. A lot of cable companies have different lineups in a give area. For example, I have Brighthouse and my TiVo (during Guided Setup) shows Brighthouse North Pinellas and Brighthouse South Pinellas.
Try re-running Guided Setup and selecting a different lineup.

I've re-run the guided setup before and will try again. But wouldn't chosing the wrong lineup cause the guide to be incorrect too?

You just said that your guide was incorrect.
Try to find a lineup that matches yours at zap2it.com, and then use that in your tivo when you rerun guided setup. Also check nearby zip codes. If the lineup is incorrect, file a lineup issue report here. (http://customersupport.tivo.com/LineUpForm.aspx)

Sure, but the differences might be minor. In my example, if I pick North Pinellas, channels 10 and and 12 are reversed from South Pinellas.

I tried the guided setup again and I am still missing channels and ABC and NBC are showing on the wrong channels. I verified the zip code, cable system, digital cable box etc. Could the problem be caused by the fact that it is connected to a dvd player?

I'm having a similar problem here in CMH with Time Warner ..... bottom 10 are "swapped" around .... any way to rerun JUST that portion of the setup, w/o goingthrough EVERYTHING?!

got a fast reply from TIVO - after filling out a TIVO lineup form - sumbitted form 9pm last night, got response this morning ...
in essence, there are some "hidden" menus you might use -
TiVo Central -> Messages & Settings -> Channels -> Channel List -> hit the "enter" key ... you repeat a portion of the Guided Setup ... bottom line, there are several prompts where, in small white print at the bottom of the screen, you may select "enter" to use advanced setup .... hope this helps you ....
now, after completing the steps my screen's giving me the "please wait" pic - and has been for about 10 minutes ..... wonder when i should panic about THAT?!

Actually, I figured out what the issue was by accident. I went to TiVo Central -> Messages & Settings -> Channels -> Channel List ->, and all the channels had the "cbl" box checked instead of "box". I just switched it around for a few of the channels and now I get all the channels right where they are supposed to be. Doing the guided setup 10 times was of no help. I hope this helps you with your problem.

Yes, if you go into that Channel List area, you should be able to deselect and select various channels... which comes in handy when the Guided Setup doesn't work correctly. For example, when I set mine up (and set up my parents' TiVo), the Guided Setup picked up some digital cable channels that we don't get (e.g. Hi-Def channels in the 900s, some foreign language channels, some PPV channels). If you don't manually remove them, the box may try to record something from those channels for you, and you'll end up with an hour of a black screen (or an hour of "You don't pay for this channel").
If you have digital cable, and are feeding TiVo it's signal the way they tell you to (i.e., split the cable coming into the house, send one coax right to TiVo and the other coax to your cable box, then send RCA outputs from the cable box to the TiVo), when you look at your Channel List all of the "analog" channels (i.e. 2 through 99 usually) should be marked "cbl" and all of the higher channels that the cable box is needed for (100 and above) should be marked "box". That's how TiVo knows to look for the channel through the coax or through the RCA (and, when looking for it through the RCA, to change the channel on your cable box at the same time).
----- (long-winded tangent to follow) -----
Neat side note here on the S2DT that's not mentioned anywhere that I know of... If you're TiVoing two channels, the only way you can watch a third channel is if you pipe it into your TV from another source (say, a VCR or DVD Recorder) that's had the cable sent into it from a splitter, but under those circumstances you can only watch an "analog" (2 through 99) cable channel. However, there IS a way you can watch an "analog" OR a "digital" (higher than 100) channel if the TiVo is recording two analog channels (at least, it works for me).
With my cable company (Cox), if you're TiVoing two analog channels, you CAN switch your TV over from Aux (TiVo) to Channel 3 and watch a Digital cable channel (or another analog channel). Assuming, of course, you've got a coax going out from the cable box and into your TV. And the reason you can tape two analogs and watch a third channel (analog or digital) is because of that very "cbl" and "box" programming. The DT knows to look for the two analog channels through the coax pipeline and not bother the cable box... and since the cable box uses the "box" version of the channels (even those on 2 through 99) you can change the channel on the cable box and it won't affect the TiVo.
(And if you're watching a Digital channel while TiVo's doing it's thing, and let's say the next hour comes along, if TiVo needs to change the Digital channel (by changing the cable box) then it'll just do it. You'll be watching TV via the regular channels and suddenly the channel will change. So it's impossible for you to even screw up your TiVo... unless, of course, you change the channel on the cable box AFTER TiVo has started recording a Digital channel.)
