Hi - I have a subscription to the Yahoo Music and I would like to stream that music via my wireless network to the Tivo unit so I can then run it through my home theater audio equipment. (I currently do this via a kima system).

Does anyone know if this is possible to do ? It appears that the Tivo unit will only play files, not stream music from the PC but I am just hoping that someone has done it....

If it cannot be don currently, it might be a nice option for Tivo to consider in future releases as they have already partnered with Yahoo for weather and pictures....)

Thanks in advance !

Hi,

Unfortunately you cannot stream protected subscription music at all. I have the Yahoo Music as well so I can tell you from first hand. The only thing you can stream is MP3's. There is a hack to do WMA's, but those are the unprotected ones only (music you own). Best wishes.

That is a real shame - I mean we pay for Yahooo Music, we pay for Tivo and the PC and the Tivo have access to teh wireless network - it is a shame that Tivo can't take the additional step and connect for streaming music....oh well....thanks for the reply !

They can do outside streaming music sources, they have Live365, but they do MP3.

They can't do WMA services becasue the TiVo hardware is incapable of decoding that format.

Hi - Not sure I understand your reply:

"They can do outside streaming music sources, they have Live365, but they do MP3.

They can't do WMA services becasue the TiVo hardware is incapable of decoding that format."-------------------------------------------------------------------

...they "can do" outside streaming music sources ? Do you mean they can do streaming sources that are external to the Tivo system...like MusicMatch or Yahoo Music ? If so, how ?

If you mean they "can" because of "Live365", well, yeah, but that's the only one and only because it is licensed to Tivo, not because it is a true external source...
