Every time I leave the Cable Cards in the S3 and try to re-boot it goes into an infinite re-boot cycle.

It boots to where the Tivo menu is displayed and then boots again in about 2 minutes. This has happened ever since version 8.0.1c of the software was downloaded to the box.

The only way I can get it to stay up is the following:

1. Remove both cable cards being careful not to remove them all the way from the slots so that the host-ids will not change.

2. Repeat Guided Setup choosing Antenna Only.

3. Re-insert the cable cards.

4. Repeat Guided Setup choosing Antenna & Cable.

I don't know whether this has any effect on the problem, but my cable company is TW, Albany NY and my cable cards are Scientific Atlanta.

At least there was one advantage to going through all this hassle. My cable company has recently added some additional channels to my HD Package and some of them were appearing twice in my Guide even though they had the same channel number. After repeating the Guided Setup, they only appear once.

i just got my series 3 set up. i noticed that i wasn't getting programming after the cablecard setup this morning (from comcast). i went into the settings and noticed that it wasn't getting programming "pending system restart" which was scheduled at 2am.

rather than wait, i did a manual restart. after the "powering up" screen, the screen went black with a small white dot in the lower left corner. i waited about 10 minutes, assuming it was some sort of low level upgrade but it never came back and there were no lights present on the box.

i unplugged the unit and it displayed the "powering up" screen again for a minute or two and then i saw my input select appear in the top left of my sony tv. this usually comes up when there's no incoming signal present. again, i waited for several minutes but this time, i heard the thx intro and the tivo intro... no video signal... uh oh

i waited a bit longer and then unplugged my HDMI cable and re-plugged it and all seems to be normal. i still don't have programming for many channels (non-HD channels like nik, toon, espn, dis, usa, fam etc). that's something i'll need to look at.

anyway, i just wanted to post my reboot experience.
version is 8.0.1c-01-2-648
