I've noticed for the last week or so that whenever TivoServer.exe runs, my CPU goes to 100%. Looking at the Task Manager, the two programs that are hogging the CPU are LSASS.EXE at about 70% and TivoServer.exe at about 25%, with some fluctuation up and down. If I stop the TivoServer.exe process, the LSASS.EXE process drops down to nothing.

Looking on the web, it looks like the LSASS.EXE.exe process is usually a vital Windows service ( Local Security Authority Service), though it can evidently sometimes be a trojan or downloader. SpyBot and AdAware tell me I am not infected with anything but tracking cookies every now and then, so it looks like my system is clean.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Brian

Does your system have a motherboard using Nvidia NF3 or NF4, & using the onboard NIC? Then you want to disable checksum offloading in the NIC driver.

I don't remember exactly what the issue was (something to do with network packet checksum calculation offloading) but searching for lsass & nvidia may come up with the threads that discussed the issue.

You might also try free program TiVoPlaylist (http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/c/dcahoe/tivo/index.htm) for transfering programs to your PC. It's faster than DeskTop and doesn't require the TiVo server. I haven't used it very long but so far it seems great.

my system pegged out when I had transfers automated.

I deleted the items on my automated list and it works fine now.

I think I read someplace that an antivirus program could be checking your tivo folder as well and that if you turned that off it would work.

good luck.

I'm having the same problem. How do I "disable checksum offloading in the NIC driver"? And is there a downside to taking this action?
